《卡罗尔的钟声》是一首圣诞颂歌。这首歌最早是一首前基督时期，乌克兰传统的新年圣曲Shchedryk，用于其在每年四月开始的新年庆贺。
之后基督教传入乌克兰，这首圣曲便成为乌克兰基督教Feast of Epiphany（基督教的节日）的庆贺曲，1904年乌克兰作曲家Mykola Leontovych将其改编成一首合唱小品。
1916年乌克兰基辅大学的学生合唱团体在欧美巡演中首次演出了这首曲目，引起欧美听众的喜爱与追捧，1930年Peter Wilhousky将这首曲目改编成英文版本，并配了一首与原曲没有什么关联的歌词，从此这首歌曲就在全球范围内流行开来，成为欧美广受欢迎的一首圣诞曲目，并各种音乐种类的艺术家和音乐团体演唱和演奏过，也曾出现在众多影视作品中。
